June summer 2013 (and that last week of May)

Can't believe the first part of summer is over. Swim team is winding down and it's getting REALLY hot outside, today is suppose to be a 117 degrees! How is that even possible? Before I know it we will be heading back to school and it will just be me and Easton and Avery at home. That is going to be a little weird.

Never posted these last game of the season pics from the boys baseball. It was a great season. We put Talan in T-ball again so him and Easton could be on the same team. I love watching my boys play sports.

Taylor tested into the ELP program this year. Which is the Accelerated Learning Program at her school. She had taken the test before but didn't quite make it in. Taylor's 4th grade teacher Mrs. Mullenaux at Taylor's first parent teacher conference asked me why isn't she in ELP? And insisted that she take the test again. Taylor did and made it in. Mrs. Mullenaux told me afterwards that she knew Taylor belonged in there. At the end of the year the ELP students always go on a trip of some sort. This year they went on a 12 hour field trip without most of the parents down to Kartchner Kaverns here in Arizona which is about three hours from where we lived. I was a little nervous to say the least about sending her.  But Taylor wasn't anything but excited. She had a great time.

Taylor's end of the year Flips recital. She continues to excel with her tumbling. We decided to take a break from full gymnastics. It was a really hard decision. One I went back and forth on it. But she was gone so much this past year and missed family dinners and FHE so much. It just wasn't worth it. So we re-evaluated last month and decided that tumbling would be a great option for her. She was crushed at first, but now feels really great about that decision and I do too. And actually she did Dive team this year for the first time and really progressed fast with it. Her coaches told her it was because of her tumbling background. She has now decided that Dive is her thing and is asking me about doing it year round for Club.
Last day of school picture with Taylor and Chase and their teachers and Swim parties for Taylor and Chase. We did the party thing last year too. They love it. Such a fun tradition. I think we will do it every year from now on.
Also, so grateful too, for such a amazing teachers for Taylor and Chase this year. Both their teachers couldn't say enough nice things about each of them and they both also pushed them both to be and do better, Taylor's teacher Mrs. Mullenaux talked to Taylor about the importance of good grades so she could get a scholarship to college on several occasions. I love that.
Talan at his end of the year program. I was so impressed with everything he learned this year. He learned about the rain forest, deserts, climate, outer space, and much more. At his last program he sang a song where he named all the bones in our bodies and another one where he named all the Presidents of the United States. He knew all the words to both.
Last official day of preschool for this boy. No more preschool for him!! There has never been a kid more excited about kindergarten than Talan. On to bigger and better things for him.
For Memorial Day we headed North about two hours or so and met up with Bry and April for a really cool hike. Unfortunately, my shoes did not make it back with us. If you look close at the picture you can see the bottoms of them all over the ground that were breaking off. SO weird. They totally disintegrated before the actual hike even  began. Regardless we had so much fun! It was a great day.

Easton, however decided not to bring shoes on the hike and didn't tell us until we were there getting out of the car. So he ended up in the baby carrier while me and B took turns holding Avery. It wasn't very funny then, but it totally is now. He was never that upset about it, When we asked him what he was going to do without shoes he said "someone can carry me!"
Talan was old enough to do swim team this year with Taylor and Chase. He was one of the youngest but that didn't stop him from doing great. He loved every minute of it!!  I love his confidence. Nothing intimates Talan. He is Mr. Joe Cool and is up for just about anything.
Also, Taylor pulled a first place ribbon in the Butterfly and Breast Stroke meets. Yay Taylor!!
Chase got a first place ribbon in the Freestyle and Back stroke meets, and a second place ribbon in the Breast stroke. Good job to him too!!
Talan qualified for relays at ever meet in his age division and got a third place ribbon in the back stroke meet and a second place one at the butterfly meet.
Talan patiently waiting for his ribbon after his first meet ever for Freestyle.
Talan proudly holding his ribbons from his last meet.
I found Chase counting his ribbons a few days ago.
I started a chore chart this summer, where when the kids got home from Swim team in the morning they had to get their chores done if they wanted to play the rest of the day. It has actually has worked good for us. Except for this day when I went up to check if they were getting Taylor's room done and I found them doing this. Nerd Alert!! They both begged me not to post it on instagram when I snapped a pic, so I didn't. But they never said I couldn't post it here. (Pretty sure me and Cort on the only ones who look at our good old blog anymore anyway, so no biggie there!)
Cort graduated!! YAY! It's the end of that chapter for us and the beginning of the next one. So proud of him. His parents and Grandma came into town to help us celebrate. His Grandma is 89 now and gets around so good. So glad she was able to make it. I would of never guessed she was that old. It was so great having her here and getting to spend some time with her.

During the ceremony Talan asked me "Hey mom is my face red?" And then plugged his nose and held his breathe. Obviously he was very much into the whole event.
Me and Tay hitching a ride back to our cars after the graduation
After Corts ceremony we went out to eat with Cort's parents and grandma at one of our favorite places, Joe's Farm Grill. Avery really liked the sweet potato fries.
The night before Cort's parents and grandma left we went and saw Monsters U. Such a cute movie. Everyone loved it.
I  just love this face. Sometimes I have to remind myself he's only 3. He just seems so much older than that. The other day I had to go somewhere and he said to me "I can stay here and watch Avery for you if you want." He is our little tornado right now and into everything. But I love it.
Our boys getting ready to leave for the Father's and Sons camp out. They were just a little excited.
Me and our girls headed to Kneaders the next day for breakfast while the boys are away. Love when we get some good girl time in.
Such gorgeous girls we have
Hanging out me and one of my favorite girls
Easton and Talan watching a show or something on my bed.
Trying to avoid bed time
We went and visited my grandparents a couple times this month. Hope fully we will make it over there again sometime this week.

.I signed Talan and Easton with one of their buddies up for a summer camp at Talan's old preschool two weeks ago. The age of the kids that could go was 3-5. It was perfect. They loved going so much. They did crafts, painted, played games, they were so sad when it came to a end.
Yesterday I went in for my annual Skin Cancer check up and they found 5 pre cancers on my face and another basal cell on my back that they had to remove. Super. Word to wise stay out of the sun and wear sun block. Laying out and being tan is NOT worth it. My doctor wants me to do a cream on my face that has some Chemo in it this October. I remember my mom doing something similar for her face and skin cancer when I was 15. I also remember that it was awful. I wish she was here so I could ask her about her feelings about it. Not sure what I will decide to do yet. I guess I'm just grateful that it's not worse. It can always be worse right?? SO glad it was only pre-cancer this time and not the real deal.
On a happier note, Avery still loves her blanket and thumb. She has to have both to fall asleep. More particularly she loves the tags on her blanket and will flip her blanket around and around until she finds them.
TAylor at her last dive meet won overall 3rd place in the 9-10 division. Yay TAY!
Chase finally lost his top tooth this past month. It's been loose forever. I was beginning to think Talan was going to lose his before Chase. lol Chase was pretty excited about losing it.
Easton drying off after a swim. All of my kids usually only last about a hour in the pool except for Easton He loves to swim and would stay out there all day and night if we let him.
However, Avery loves the water too. And has no fear of it.
Easton and Cort getting ready to go running at the beginning of the month we did a lot of running, but now that it's ridiculously hot outside it's just not happening.

These three are quite the pair. We will definitely miss Talan next year when he leaves us for school.
One of Chase's friends introduced him to Chess and Chase is now obsessed. He saved his money and bought himself his own chess set and will play with anyone anytime. He's actually getting pretty good.

Avery graduated to a big girl seat this month, She's actually in Easton's old one here, but for her birthday we went and bought her a new one and that thing is huge. She looks like a little peanut in it.

I went upstairs a few nights ago to check on the kids before I went to sleep and found Talan asleep with his sword. Reminded me when he was a baby and would sleep with his sword every night. I wish I could stick this kid in a bottle and keep him five for a few more years.
Our house is coming along super fast too. Seriously when they told us it would be done the end of September I didn't believe them, but now I'm thinking they might be right. So excited to finally be building "our dream home." I know that it's where our Heavenly Father wants us to be. Not sure why, but I have felt that confirmed to me many times. And although part of me feels a little sad about not going back to Utah, the other part of me is excited to stay here among my mom's family and all the new wonderful friends we have made.
well Until next time

1

Avery turned one year old today!! I thought for sure I would shed some tears about my baby turning one, but I did not. So not like me. Didn't even feel sad about it. Just a happy day celebrating this beautiful little girl. Avery continues to be such a joy. Everyone always asks "is she always this happy?" She stands on her own and has taken a couple steps here and there. Soon enough she'll be walking everywhere. She does do this little scoot thing on her knees where she puts one foot out in front points her toe and leads with that leg while dragging the other one across the floor. She loves to stand in the middle of the floor and squat up and down. She is very ticklish too. Especially under her ribs. I love tickling her there and listening to her laugh. Avery can say mama, dada, taytay, uh-oh, oooooookay, peek-a-boo, hi, bye, go, thank you, and a few others I can't think of right now. She gives the best open mouth kisses too. At one year old she has a total of 4 and a half teeth, two on the bottom, her two fangs on top and finally one of her front top tooth is coming through. At night she will not go to sleep unless you sing songs to her. Her very favorites being primary songs. I am a Child of God, I love to see the Temple and Teach me to Walk in the Light are several of our favorites. She is full of smiles and such a flirt. Her eyes are an amazing color of blue, I love them so much. She points when she wants something and loves to eat pretty much anything. Just like her sister Taylor was as a baby. She is very sensitive and hates loud noises and scares easy. She is such a girl. Very dainty. But she always loves to be around her brothers and maybe not join in their craziness, but she loves to watch it. Also, recently, Taylor has been teaching her how to do a somersault and she loves to practice it. She is just about perfect as far as I'm concerned. Happiest one year birthday to our sweet little Avery girl. She is heaven sent.
Birthday balloons. I think Avery enjoyed them just as much as her brothers did.
And our traditional birthday breakfast with a candle.
That night we did a little party with just our "little" family of 7. I wanted to do a big shindig, but when it came down to it, I decided this would be better. I still decorated it the way I wanted, made the kids some birthday crowns, got a pinata and a fancy cake and after presents and dinner we had some good friends join us to eat the cake. It was a perfect night, spend with some of my favorite people EVER.
Opening presents
Pinata
And the cake
I think she liked it
Happy 1st Birthday to our Avery Leone!!
